Daniel with Nan

Last words of advice before he left.

Shopping with nan.

On the front porch.

"Nan, you've shrunk."
"Aye son, but you have grown as well."

Checking to make sure the keys are there.

Taking Nan Shopping.

Beautiful one day perfect the next doesn't apply to Toowoomba.

Looking toward Toowoomba, bleak, overcast, cold and wet. Yuck.

On the road to Toowoomba.

Police Expo with Daniel at HCT

This expo happened to be at the Women's college. So guns and men in uniform were an unsual sight.

Okay - so i had a go.

Oh!

Sweeeet.

Bond...

Guns - I don't like guns. Only police and army are allowed guns in the UAE.

The female Police officer showing Daniel how to pull the gun apart and put it back together. He loved it.

Learning how to load a gun.

Odds and sodds

My Arabic Sign Language classroom. I passed Level 1 and hope to continue classes when I return in august.

I had some work colleagues come for dinner, it was a ladies only evening., Matthew and Tim had to be out of the villa so the ladies I work with could unveil. They surprised me at the end of the night with gifts.

These boys were so funny. They would take turns to stand on tippy-toes so they would look taller than the other. I loved having them both around. They are so funny and have wonderful senses of humour, however they would tease Matthew something chronic.

An evening with friends prior to Daniel leaving for his mission.

Me at the Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi. I took my own shayla so Matthew could spot me in the crowd. This is the 3rd largest mosque in the world. still not finished.

This palm tree is actually a communication tower. There are a few around.

On the way to Sohar

Daniel. (need I say more?)

This was a Saturday and the children were coming home from school. The week-end in Oman is Thursday and Friday.

The fishing town of Sohar. The people live right on the waters edge. It smelt of fish. Sohar, OMAN. The legendary birthplace of Sinbad the Sailor, Sohar is a small fishing port to the north west of Muscat.

At the back of the Wali's office is the beach. The birds pull the dead fish up onto the cement railings and if you enlarge the photo you may notice the hundres of crabs on the beach.

The Wali's office. One of my sisters will call someone a 'wally' if they do something silly. so I had to take a photo.

Only way to find out that the museum was closed was this message on the door. :)

Timothy and Daniel. The only museum was closed for renovations.

Another Round-about monument.

I love the round-abouts.

Another round-about.

I love seeing road signs in Arabic.

I have really learnt to understand the word 'wilderness' being over in the Middle East.

rocky outcrops all over the land. Countryside of Oman on the way to Sohar.

Once across the border it is compulsory to have car insurance.

Border post into Oman.
